Animism

Animism: People Who Love Objects
Real to Reel Productions is in development for Global Television (Shaw Media) for a one-hour documentary, “Animism: People Who Love Objects” for their new doc strand focusing on subcultures in our society.

A lot of people in our modern fast moving society are increasingly turning to a variety of substitutes for human love and companionship: from the Internet, social media, virtual reality, food ... but objects like the Eiffel Tower? "There is a huge problem with being in love with a public object. The issue of intimacy – or rather lack of it – is forever present. …Erika Eiffel who married the Eiffel Tower.

Animism is the belief that inanimate objects are sentient beings and that humans can communicate with them. Animism is the foundation of ‘Objectum Sexuality’ (OS), an emerging subculture just starting to percolate into the public’s awareness.

Bear

THE LEGEND OF THE ICE BEARS
A Unique 3D Experience in a place
NORTH OF ORDINARY

Once a year, in the far, far north of Canada, the elemental forces of nature create a scenario that is so magical - and so unlikely - that if we weren’t showing it to you in rich, immersive 3D, you wouldn’t believe us.

In a place where the river never freezes, even in midwinter, the legend of the Ice Bear was born. A sacred place the Vuntut Gwitchin people call Bear Cave Mountain, one of the last truly wild places on earth. Straddling the Arctic Circle in the Yukon, the place where this extraordinary scenario plays out, is an oasis of life in a frozen desert. A place where schools of salmon come to spawn, and where the legendary Ice Bears congregate, shimmering in the low Arctic sunlight, tinkling as they walk, routinely bathed in the eerie glow of the Aurora Borealis.

Bear Cave Mountain is as remote and as isolated as anywhere on earth and sits at the heart of a wilderness area that is twice the size of Switzerland. And yet is inhabited by less than 350 people. The nearest human habitation is a long helicopter ride away. There are no roads.

This will be the first 3D documentary to capture the soul stirring beauty of Bear Cave Mountain and the annual congregation of Ice Bears, but it will also be a rare opportunity to experience a magical region that can only be described as a place NORTH OF ORDINARY.

10 Green Bottles

TEN GREEN BOTTLES
Feature Length History Documentary

The film is based on the highly acclaimed book, Ten Green Bottles, by Vivian Kaplan, which recounts (in first person style) the compelling story of her parents’ escape from Nazi oppression in Europe on the eve of WWII to the only place in the world that would accept them – the city of Shanghai. There they would have to rely on their wits and each other to survive. They are part of the little-known story of thousands of European Jews (Shanghailanders) who survived the Nazi Holocaust half a world away.

TEN GREEN BOTTLES is a story of how two people, and their community, abandoned by the world and relying solely on their own resources and their love for each other, were able to keep their humanity intact under the most trying of circumstances. At its heart, TEN GREEN BOTTLES is a testament to the human spirit.

War on Women WAR ON WOMEN
Feature documentary
This documentary will put a spotlight on a nasty little secret - violence against women. THE WAR ON WOMEN will reveal that the killing of women by the intimate men in their lives continues unabated and that in this war, the fallen are more likely to be ignored than honoured. The reality is that our communities harbour domestic terrorists. Many know who they are. No one speaks out. Battering isn’t the taboo, talking about it is. We intend to break that taboo and talk loudly with the help of some courageous women, and men and people in the frontlines of the battlefield on THE WAR ON WOMEN. We have partnered with Brian Vallee, a renown author, filmmaker and journalist who has been writing and speaking about the subject for many years and who is leading the fight to end this war.
